Saint Harridan has the only ready-to-wear suit line designed to fit a woman’s body, AND, the only made-to-measure suit based on the re-engineered pattern. “We found that we couldn’t just change the measurements on a man’s suit,” says Founder Mary Going. “It didn’t look right even when it fit. We spent several months working out the changes the suit would need in order to look fabulous on a body with narrower shoulder and wider hips,” she adds. Saint Harridan’s Kickstarter campaign raised $137,000, proving that there is plenty of demand for their idea.
Saint Harridan embraces the concept of ethical manufacturing, partnering with USA-based factories for their dress shirts and suits. “It’s not just about ethics, though,” adds Going. “A Made in the USA label in a suit actually means it’s the highest quality craftsmanship in the world.”
We have had the pleasure of working with founder and CEO Mary Going over the last few months. The opportunity to secure a holiday popup within a space across the street from Popuphood’s office exemplifies our creative thinking. The property owners are remodeling the building and when we suggested a “meanwhile use” tenant to enliven the perception of the shopfront and provide additional retail for the block over the holidays, they loved the idea and worked with us to prep the space for Saint Harridan.
A little more about Mary Going, Saint Harridan’s Founder: Going is an entrepreneur and social activist. She holds an MBA from the Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business at Mills College where she was a recipient of the Goldman Sachs Business Leadership scholarship. She has founded, led and sold two businesses prior to Saint Harridan. Mary lives with her wife, Martha Rynberg, and their two daughters in Oakland, California.
