Popuphood is excited to host ReWrite Oakland as part of the National Day of Civic Hacking! Please join us, share the event, come with ideas, and use #ndoch #hack4change to promote your ideas!
When June 1st 9-4pm
Come help us make city information more accessible! This event is Local folks solving local problems! If you are an advocate, writer, organizer, researcher, or resident of Oakland than join us in creating a citizen-focused website to make city information and services easier to navigate quickly.
Just be sure to RSVP to join in on the citizen led civic fun.
Presented by OpenOakland (the Code for America Brigade in Oaktown) and the City of Oakland, along with Code for America fellows for a day of ReWriting the City of Oakland's website.
Make city information more accessible for everyone. Unlock the power of Open Data + Open Gov. This is your chance to author change. You'll be joining community members, business community, local tech developers, librarians, advocates and most importantly, the city staff who know so many answers to common questions but have no way to make their vast knowledge available to us all online. We will spend the day brainstorming common interactions with Oakland government, developing clear questions that our citizens need answers to and then building a new system to hold all those common answers- answers and connections that we will be collaboratively writing on the day and on following dates!
Right here in the Plaza, the heart of civic life in Oakland at our new Popuphood HQ, 150 Frank Ogawa Plaza, Suite 1B Oakland, Ca 94612.
Handicap accessible directly in front of the 12th St. Bart Station (14th At. plaza exit/elevator).
If you've ever tried to find simple information or answers to common questions about local government in Oakland you may have experienced a common phenomenon- the frustration that comes from typical government websites and the ways information is burried and inaccessible. We aim to change that, and in just one day you can help us!
