Q1: How does opening a flagship shop impact your business?
The SOBU Flagship Store in Old Oakland is our direct access to our customers and design partners. It's our think tank, and touch and feel space where our furniture products can make their full impact. It's where we will launch our new design projects together with inspiration and feedback from our customers and design professionals face to face. In short, it's everything a website cannot be - a place to hang out with like minded people who love design and beauty and share some coffee and ideas!
Q2: What made you decide to invest in Old Oakland for your flagship?
To be able to launch our Flagship Store in Old Oakland means we can bring the richness and integrity of the past together with innovation and subversions of designs and materials. A more authentic location to showcase modern furniture and design within the beauty of the historical neighborhood cannot be found in the Bay Area. With the best access to public transportation, and surrounded by great restaurants, pubs and buzzing new businesses, this is the new destination where everyone will want to be!
Popuphood has been a terrific partner helping our dream of a retail shop in Oakland become a reality. Sarah, Mark and Alfonso have understood our vision and supported our needs from design/location requirements to detailed business plan review, all to ensure that we were truly ready for this great leap. They not only helped get us into this fantastic space, but have created a neighborhood tapestry/community of businesses that will ensure the long term success of these growing neighborhoods. We are watching Oakland transform before our eyes with great help and a lot of positive organization and marketing from them. We are truly grateful to be working with them!
