Through cross sector partnerships we lower the barriers to entry for small businesses ready to open shop. The goal is revitalizing neighborhoods, block by block so we support each business in a variety of ways in the signing of a long term lease, including up to 6 months free rent and marketing. We can advise you in signing a long term lease, however it is your business and your terms.
How do you know if you qualify? We look for businesses that understand our urban mission of a hyper local approach to revitalization and community building as a social venture. We value inclusiveness, diversity, creativity and innovation and measure our progress with impact upon the triple bottom line.
Many of our businesses participating in popuphood have translated their success from another venture, either a second shop, an online business, or from another type of businesses altogether. They are primarily partnerships or have funds to hire staff, they know the importance of good design and social media and are active in engaging with them. We look for businesses that compliment one another, as well as nearby businesses. We will look at your business as an essential amenity for the local workforce as well as residents. In our experience, even with the initial free rent you will need start up capital to cover inventory, signage, insurance, fixtures and utilities.
What if you have a great product but are not sure how to translate it into an entire store? Fill out the application, we may recommend a great fit with another business to collaborate with in a location!
